Palaeontological Museum of Goulandris

The Moastaba Mosque is  itself a great monument with 9 domes and adjacent cells, surrounded by a variety of trees and plants of Cretan land. It presents original findings of endemic mammals such as Cretan elephants and the deer of the Rethymnon.

The Municipal Library of Rethymnon

Housed in the precinct of the church of Agia Varvara, with over 130,000 books and a rich newspaper archive, it is one of the richest libraries in Greece.

Lake Preveli

About 35 km south of Rethymnon and 10 km east of Plakias lies Preveli with the most famous beach of the South, which receives the waters of the Kourtaliotis river, which starts from the homonymous canyon, among palm tree clusters, to come to one, sandy beach, with cold, crystal clear waters and pebbled seabed. Access is made either from the west, from Plakias to the Preveli Monastery following the special signage, we reach a large parking lot and take the path to the sea through paradise routes. Otherwise, we drive the dirt road to the nearby Drimiskianos Ammoudi and take the path to Preveli in just 5 minutes. Otherwise,there are buses starting from Agia Galini and Plakias, to Preveli. Ancient finds of early historical times that make it a point of historical interest were found in the gorge
